Temperatures are rising, which means it’s the perfect time to hit the beach.
Don’t have the time or the budget to fly off to the Caribbean to soak up the sunshine?
Don’t worry. There are still plenty of incredible, beautiful beaches right here in the U.S.
A new report from Divein Travel looked at ratings, reviews, dining prices, accommodation options, and even car park availability to give the most comprehensive overview of America’s beaches.
These are the top 10 U.S. beach destinations this spring:
- 10. Grayton Beach State Park, Florida
- 9. Coligny Beach, Carolina
- 8. Caladesi Island State Park, Florida
- 7. Coronado Beach, California
- 6. Cape May, New Jersey
5. South Beach Miami, Florida
The 5th best beach in the U.S. and the best beach in Florida is South Beach Miami, and for good reason. South Beach is a great place to be both on the shoreline and away from it.
You can take advantage of active nightlife and luxurious beachfront restaurants and hotels.
The art deco buildings along this stretch are a tourist attraction in their own right.
On the beach you can enjoy sunbathing and beach games, or hop in the water for kayaking, stand up paddleboards, and even deep-sea fishing.
South Beach is a beach that offers so much to see and do which is why it attracts such a wide range of people.
From the young and active to the rich and famous there’s something for everyone here.
4. Driftwood Beach, Georgia
As the name suggests, incredible oversized driftwood branches are dotted along the shoreline of this unique and beautiful beach.
You’ll find golden sand and during the spring months visitor numbers here are relatively low.
The seclusion of the location, paired with the scale of the driftwood, lends Driftwood Beach an otherworldly feel.
Plan to visit early when the tide is out, as this is the best time to see the driftwood sculptures here at their finest.
This is a great spring vacation spot for nature lovers and is an affordable vacation spot too.
3. Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina
Interested in watersports?
Then America’s 3rd best beach might be the number 1 choice for you!
Wrightsville Beach is famous for its watersports scene. Internationally renowned surfing competitions and stand-up paddle board events are regularly hosted here.
Wrightsville Beach also boasts a waterbird sanctuary, and the spacious beach means you’ll never have to worry about getting a spot on the sand.
What’s more, this is considered an affordable beach destination, which is good news for travelers on a budget.
Wrightsville Beach has an active community and a beautiful pier, which makes it a great spot for a Spring beach vacation.
2. Cannon Beach, Oregon
Cannon Beach has a reputation for its outstanding natural beauty. It is located in officially the most beautiful town Oregon and boasts long sandy shores that stretch out for miles.
What makes Cannon Beach stand out from the crowd is its awe-inspiring landscapes, including the Haystack Rock towers, which sit just off the shoreline.
The wildlife here is spectacular, too, especially the marine life that you can see during low tide.
Away from the seashore and Cannon Beach has a reputation for its bustling art scene. Despite this, there isn’t an abundance of hotels in the town, so plan on booking your trip early to avoid disappointment.
1. Venice Beach LA, California
Venice Beach is officially the best beach in the U.S. this spring, and it’s easy to see why.
From its iconic boardwalk to its affordable spots to eat and drink, this is a great place to hang out.
The beachfront boardwalk and pier are a great place to be entertained thanks to a host of bohemian performers but it’s worth noting that the beach itself is also a huge draw here.
A huge expanse of golden sand is fringed by the Pacific Sea and this is a great place for water sports.
From a practical point of view, Venice Beach also boasts 16 nearby car parks for daytrippers and a whopping selection of 239 hotels so you’ll be spoilt for choice if you’re hoping to stay.
